Rogue Vic MP to headline comedy show

THE Geoff Shaw show rolls on with the suspended Victorian MP due to headline a comedy event on Friday night.

THE rogue Frankston MP will appear on stage for an hour at the Wheeler Centre with comedian Sammy J for a question and answer session.

Mr Shaw has made few public comments this week as his political future was decided with a parliamentary suspension on Wednesday.The Liberal-turned-independent was found by the privileges committee to have misused his parliamentary car and entitlements.The government passed a motion to suspend Mr Shaw until September 2, ordering him to repay more than $6800 and apologise to the parliament.The Victorian parliament is now locked at 43 votes on each side, with Speaker Christine Fyffe holding the casting vote.Premier Denis Napthine has looked to move on from Mr Shaw's suspension, challenging Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews to back tougher sentencing reforms when parliament sits in the June 24 sitting week."Does he support tougher sentences for drug traffickers? Does he support tougher sentences for pedophiles, or is he going to be a wrecker?" Dr Napthine told reporters on Thursday.Mr Andrews said Labor would not give the government a "free ride" to pass legislation."Our job is to hold the government to account," Mr Andrews told reporters."We'll work through every single bill they put before the parliament line by line, doing our job, fulfilling our responsibility.
